During the last five years I’ve been using skype whenever I can in my history lessons. Well, finally this year I decided to indulge in a new adventure.

This year my students were assigned to create a short video clip focusing on Austrian pre-history. Their videos were posted on dropbox and teachers from the hlwskypers platform wrote their feedback.

I enjoy the idea of being evaluated by strangers. It’s so inspiring and motivating

Here are a couple of feedbacks:

    Janet Barnstable (from Illionois USA)

Great job! You were clear and spoke right to me, which I always look for in a recorded piece. It seems as if you spoke a little fast, but then if you were actually conducting a tour, you’d likely do that, as people would not want to stand around for a long time. I wish I’d had a teacher like Ms. Zabiatnik when I had history classes. It’s a really cool project!

    Lorraine Leo (MA, USA)

Thank you for the lively tour! I enjoyed seeing the sites that you shared and listening to your description. It is far more exciting to actually see the landmarks than to read about them! Thank you for sharing!

    Anne Mirtschin (Australia)

Thanks for sharing your work. I really liked looking at the landmarks as these historic cities are so different to where I live in rural Australia. I also enjoyed learning about the mix of languages and its impact on the naming of places. Great work and it was fabulous to see it in video format, rather than reading through text. The students were very confident and clear in their presentation. Congratulations. Anne
